DAILY INSPIRATION

Every kind act to yourself adds kindness to the world. Every kind act to another adds kindness to the world. We each have the power to change the world through our individual acts of kindness to ourselves and others. We are not powerless to bring about a more loving world, but the changes must start within you.

Cost:        $800 (plus tax) per person or
$750 (plus tax) per person, per couple (or two people coming together)

About Room and Board:

•    Shared rooms in our home will be provided for the first four people to register.
•    Those who prefer to stay at one of the lovely inns in downtown Santa Fe and those who register after the first four participants, may board elsewhere at their own expense and join us daily at our home (20 minutes away) for the intensive.
•    Meals not included.  Participants are welcome to shop at the grocery store down the street and cook at our home; eat at one of the small restaurants in our area (two minutes away by car or a 10 minute walk), or drive 20 minutes to downtown Santa Fe for excellent local cuisine.Participants must have their own transportation or make arrangements with another participant to ride-share.
•    This is a “Must Love Dogs” intensive.  We have one mature dog and puppy who will be 14 months old by the retreat dates.  Although the dogs will most likely not be with us during intensive “processing”, they will join us for meals, hikes and breaks.  They will not, however, sleep in the same house as participants.

About the Santa Fe Fall Colors Hiking and Inner Bonding Intensive:
•    Inner Bonding work will be facilitated by Karen Kral.  Karen’s husband, Mark Lersch will join us for our hikes.

Intensive:
Approximately 24 hours of this five-day intensive will be dedicated to Inner Bonding, in addition to time walking, hiking or in ceremony where participants will be asked to connect with their inner child and/or spiritual guidance.  The format will be simple yet invigorating, with opportunities for active Inner Bonding work in which workshop participants assist the person working by playing “roles” such that of a family member, the inner child, or the higher power.  The location will be comfortable and intimate, in the living room of our Santa Fe style home.

Hiking:
We have scheduled 17 hours of hiking during this intensive. (If all participants decide they would like less challenging hiking, we are willing to arrange the schedule to accommodate for this request.)  As Santa Fe is in a high desert area, at 7,000 feet altitude, we want you to have a chance to get acclimated.  As such, we will begin slowly, with a short hike (1 mile each way) on Wednesday evening to a beautiful overlook.  At the overlook, participants will set an intention for the intensive.   On Thursday and Friday, our hikes begin at 7am.  On Thursday, participants may choose from two hikes in Glorieta, NM, a gradual uphill hike along a river bed, or a steeper hike with spectacular views of Glorieta Mesa.   On Friday, we will go to the breathtaking area on the Santa Fe Ski Basin called Aspen Vista for hiking at 10,000 feet.  This hike will take us on a very gradual incline on a wide jeep road.  You’ll be able to spread out and go at your own pace.  For autumn photos of the Aspen Vista Hike on Santa Fe Ski Basin go to http://choosing-santa-fe.blogspot.com/2008/11/aspen-vista-2008.html  Friday’s hike will be followed by lunch in downtown Santa Fe.  We’ll take a day off from hiking on Saturday, focusing primarily on Inner Bonding that day, and giving you a chance to recuperate for Sunday’s grand-finale hike.  On Sunday, we will take our longest and most challenging hike, to Jack’s Creek in the Pecos Wilderness.  For a few photos and information on the Jack’s Creek Campground area, go to http://www.explorenm.com/camping/JacksCreek/

We ask that you bring good hiking shoes for the rocky terrain, be in good shape before coming, and agree to take 100% responsibility for your own safety.  This hiking intensive is at your own risk.  We will offer precautions before we begin, but we ask you to be mindful and alert during your hikes to insure your own safety and enjoyment.  Bring a small backpack or fanny pack, sunscreen, a rain jacket and a lightweight hat.  We will provide water and snacks.
